Despite the weather and some last minute cancellations, the 2nd annual angel shoots went amazingly! This year I provided a full client closet, two unqiue sets (both the cloud set and a brand new hanging rose set), snacks, mimosas, and a polaroid to take home.
I was lucky to find a studio in Dayton to rent for the entire day, which definitely gave me more flexibility with time and set-up. Studio J in the Linden-Davis building was amazing, as always, in helping me find a package that worked for my price range and needs. I was so excited to find a studio so close to where I live with so much variety and flexibility. I still love the studios I work with in Hamilton and Cincinatti, but finding something closer has made life a lot easier for a full-time student with limited availability.
The idea for these 'angel shoots' was born last year, in 2022. Valentine's Day is the most popular holiday for boudoir photography, and since so many photographers run specials and events, I wanted to do something unique that would allow me to break through some of the noise. I had seen some 'cloud' photoshoots on Pinterest and I thought it was a really cool idea, but I wasn't sure I would be able to pull it off myself. I decided there was no harm in trying, so I rented a studio and bought as much polyfil as I could fit into my cart at walmart. I also wanted to provide angel wings so the photos would be more on-theme for Valentine's Day, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, and the wings I did like were way out of my budget. So, again, I figured I might as well try, and after hours of bending wire, wrapping cardboard around the frame, glueing and regluing every individual feather, and painting, I created my own angel wings. I could not have been prouder of the result, and I was so excited to be able to offer them to use in my sessions. I was fortunate enough to have clients who trusted my vision, and after shooting and editing more than I ever have in my life, I was able to create some truly dreamy photos.
